London Academy is delighted to have 'Mark Lipscomb' Mark has worked in Television on both sides of the camera since 1980 and has a wealth of broadcasting experience. He has been a regular presenter on itv Central News since 1991, so has extensive live broadcast experience and is well-accustomed to working to tight deadlines. He has first hand knowledge of how to cope effectively with the demands of live TV news. Mark has also worked as a reporter, producer, floor manager and location director for Central News working most recently on a special programme with the Prime Minister, Tony Blair. Mark is frequently asked to perform public duties in his role as one of the ambassadors for itv in the Central area. As a cameraman, Mark worked on a wide range of studio/location/ outside broadcasts across the UK and around the world. Mark was also one of the best-known voices on itv in the London area for many years as Senior Live Continuity Announcer and network promotions voice-over. Mark was trained by BBC World Service radio as a newsreader/announcer.

Obviously, we can't equip you with everything you need to
be a news anchor, as that requires years of experience,
but we CAN guide you through what's required, get you
reading the news and learn the best way to break into
the news broadcasting industry from someone who
knows the freelance market inside out. |

On the first day, you'll practice and practice in front of
an autocue, honing those all-important techniques and
learning about what's required of a TV News Presenter.
We'll discuss nerves. We'll take you back to first basics and
teach principles which will strengthen your abilities and
self-confidence.

On day-two, you’ll go over your prepared material and get a real introduction to performing pieces on camera on the street and then bulletins in the studio. Before the recording starts, a professional make-up artist will ensure you look the part and the only shine on camera will be your personality.
These performances will make up your all-important showreel. your show and tell proof to television news decision markers of what you can do in the studio and outside.
There is practical advice on how to break into television news or develop the career you’ve already started.
